Mercy Ministries was developed with a vision to be a bridge to engage members of Lafayette Vineyard with the community in which they live. Our hearts are to develop ministries of outreach that extend beyond the church building and engage the lost in their own cultural environment. This ministry exists to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the poor or downcast in order to bring them into their full destiny in Christ Jesus.

“Our outreach shouldn’t be a relationally distant giving that looks like modern welfare. It’s not enough to just give our things, we need to also give of ourselves and our time. Our giving is the avenue with which we connect people to God and people to other people and in this way we fulfill the Great Commission."

Matthew 25:34-36 “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

We have adopted two apartment complexes in Lafayette and support two resident missionary chaplains who coordinate our ministry efforts in these communities. At each location, our church participates in several outreach events every month. We partner with various non-profits in the area to bring resources to those living in the complexes.

Romans 10:14-15 "How then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

The purpose of our chaplain ministry is to equip and train lay ministers to go out into the community and spread the love and light of Jesus in the marketplace and beyond. Our chaplains are trained in Emotional and Spiritual Care, Suicidology, Grief After Trauma as well as many other areas. We deploy chaplains for hospital visits, after traumatic events such as fires or accidents, specialized home visits or any other time a comprehensive ministry time is required.

Isaiah 61:1-4 “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy  instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

Benevolence is the act of being kind or charitable. Our benevolence ministry exists to provide groceries, school supplies or any other legitimate felt need of those in our congregation.

Acts 2:44-46 “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
