It Illustrates Christ’s Death and Resurrection.
“…Christ died for our sins…He was buried…He was raised on the third day.” I Corinthians 15:3,4 (NIV)
“...having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God.” Col. 2:12 (NIV)
It Illustrates My New Life As a Christian.
“Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.” II Cor. 5:17 (CEV)
“That is what happened in baptism. When we went under the water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out of the water, we entered into the new country of grace—a new life in a new land! That’s what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light—filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going…” Rom. 6:3,4 (TM)
Water Baptism is a public testimony to the internal changes that have taken place in the life of a believer. It is identification with Christ in His death and resurrection. It says, “As I go under the water, I choose to bury my old life—with its desires that are contrary to what Jesus wants.” It says, “As I come up out of the water, I am rising to a new life and choosing to walk in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.”
Every Person Who Has Believed In Christ.
“On that day about three thousand believed his message and were baptized.” Acts 2:41 (CEV)
“Simon himself believed and was baptized.” Acts 8:13 NIV
“But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” Acts 8:12 (NIV)
As Soon As You Have Believed!
“On that day about three thousand believed his message and were baptized.” Acts 2:41 (CEV)
“So Philip began with this same Scripture and then used many others to tell him about Jesus. As they rode along, they came to a small body of water, and the eunuch said, “Look! Water! Why can’t I be baptized?” “You can,” Philip answered, “if you believe with all your heart.” And the eunuch replied, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” He stopped the chariot, and they went down into the water and Philip baptized him.” Acts 8:35-38 (TM)
There is no reason to put it off. As soon as you have decided to receive Christ into your life, you can and should be baptized. If you wait until you feel “ready” or “good enough”, you’ll never do it. It is not about how you feel, it is about what God has done inside you.
What Should I Wear When I am Baptized?
Women should wear middle of the thigh length shorts and a top rather than a swimsuit. Men may wear shorts or a middle of the thigh length swimsuit and a top. Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for your wet clothes.
Will I Have To say Anything?
The service begins with a brief explanation of the meaning of baptism. You will need to respond with a simple yes or no to eight questions about your new life in Christ. Then you will be introduced, and will be given the opportunity to share if you like, then you will be lowered just under the water. Then you can leave the pool, dry off, and watch the others. We encourage you to invite all your relatives and friends to attend your baptism.
Special Needs?
We will be happy to perform a private baptism in special circumstances.
The Bible says that all professing Christians should be baptized (Matthew 28:18-20). Whether you've been following Jesus for a long time and never got baptized or are a new Christian, we would be honored to baptize you!
