“Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? Let those who walk in darkness and have no light trust the name of the Lord and depend upon their God. But all of you light fires and arm yourselves with flaming torches. So walk in your own light and among the torches you have lit. This is what you will receive from me: You will be tormented.” Isaiah 50:10-11 (GW)
In his book, The Heavenly Man, brother Yun’s wife Deling tells this story about being a young believer in China: “At the age of 18 I committed my life to Jesus Christ…Two other young women came to the Lord at the same time as me. We attended meetings together in different parts of the district, so we often had to walk more than an hour to get there. After the meetings I often walked home by myself. This was dangerous because it was so dark and there were evil men and wild dogs out late at night.
God worked a great miracle to protect and help me in those early days. Many nights as I walked home I could see a light about ten meters ahead of me on the path, showing me the way I needed to take. In the pitch dark I often lost my way, but then I’d see the light, like a small star, showing the way to get back on the right path. The light wasn’t constant; it just appeared whenever I was heading in the wrong direction.”
We often take wrong paths in our life. But if we will just hold on and not panic; if we will refuse to light our own fires in the darkness and chaos of our lives—and if we will just trust and depend on God, he will always guide us back to the right path.”
